7th to 11th November

In English, in addition to our handwriting, spelling and comprehension sessions, we have done some more poetry work. We have "polished" some of our Haiku and limericks and written some Clerihews. The theme of our poetry on Thursday and Friday has been "refugees". We are writing poems to provide some text for a display that the school will be putting up in the local shopping area in the run-up to Christmas.

Through the week, in maths, we have been thinking about shape - revising and learning the names of 2d shapes and vocabulary to describe the properties of different shapes. We have also continued to practice some mental multiplication and division and written ("bus-stop" method) division.

We have finished most of the sawing to make our D&T weaving frames and decorated the clay pots we made earlier. The children combined elements of the styles of Bodil Manz and Clarice Cliff to make their final designs which look very good indeed. We also had another session on the tin whistle and one learning the songs for our Christmas production.
