19th and 20th July
Term is now over and our school summer holidays have begun.
In the last couple of days we have finished reading the book, Kensuke's Kingdom, and found out how the story ends. We have also distributed and taken home lots of work and finished off our technology and done some more ICT work.
We had special services to say goodbye to our Deputy Head, Mr. Bannister, who is leaving to become a head teacher and to Mrs. Harrison, our Head Teacher, who is retiring. We also had a service for everyone to say goodbye to all the Year 6 pupils as they move on to their secondary schools.

16th to 18th July
This is the last week of term and we have been busy with "End of Term" activities and events. We have completed our Kensuke's Kingdom folder and these have been sent to our new secondary schools. We have also spent quite a lot of time this week on independent research activities for our history work on Aztecs or the Ancient Egyptians.
Yesterday we had our end of year Music Concert - we performed to the school in the morning and to parents and relations in the evening - while this afternoon many of us participated in the Family Schools' Music Festival which was held at our school. Six schools from our family participated and it was a very happy occasion.
This evening we have our Leavers' Party.

12th and 13th July
Yesterday we had our school sports' day.
In the morning, our class set up the games on the playground, sorting out the equipment and marking out the playground ready for the afternoon. We also set up the score sheets for each team. Then in the afternoon, we actually did the sports with the rest of the school. We managed to get through all the sports - every team had twenty activities - and the prize giving without it raining. Then, about twenty minutes after we had finished there was torrential rain!
Today, we did some RE in the morning, thinking about Buddhist worship and meditation before doing some maths and re-thinking our Design Technology. We continued our technology during the afternoon, with many of us changing our focus to think about fairground rides now.
We finished the day listening to some more of Kensuke's Kingdom after everyone had received their reports.

9th to 11th July
We have finished our latest piece of writing based on Kensuke's Kingdom and many of us chose to illustrate this. We have also read quite a lot more of the book.
We have done some more maths investigations, saved our Wonderful World video in a form we can transfer to our home computers and spent some more time on our technology project.
Yesterday we had an Aztec Day when we played a simulation game based on life in an Aztec village. We had to make sure that we farmed our land appropriately to ensure there was enough food for our families, make items for our homes to be our possessions and obey the chief and religious rules. We could trade items with other families (other groups working on the game) and at the end of the day we voted for a winning family by examining everyone's possessions and deciding which family had done the best.

5th and 6th July
Yesterday most of the class spent the day visiting the secondary schools that they will be attending from next September. Those of us who were present spent the day researching an aspect of life in ancient Egypt and creating a poster with text and pictures to share the information we discovered.
Today we read some more from Kensuke's Kingdom and began writing an account of "the jellyfish incident" from Kensuke's point of view. We spent some time on our Design Technology project, producing designs and prototypes for the next part of our work. We also did some more Aztec work, thinking about Aztec art and the rules that their artists had to follow when painting or sculpting figures.
Everyone was given their SATs results today.

2nd to 4th July
This week we have continued with our Kenuke's Kingdom work, writing up our dramatic descriptions of a storm at sea and continuing to hear the story. In the book, Michael has now encountered Kensuke and we have made some notes about how he is getting to know Kensuke and their relationship. We will develop these notes as the story unfolds.
We have also continued to develop our music video, and some of which are nearing completion, and spent more time on our design technology project. This week we have been working on linkages and levers.
Mr Harrison finished his special topic on Monday afternoon and we had our usual Tuesday afternoon PE, French and handwriting sessions.
