11th to 15th July

We have continued with our persuasive writing in English (writing arguments about improving the local shopping area and the pedestrianisation of Digby Avenue) and area and perimeter in maths.

We have spent quite a lot of time on our Design and Technology work with most of the class now finishing the making stage of their automata. Many have also completed their evaluations of their products.

We have also spent time on our RE work in connection with our Sikhism topic. We have heard and written versions of Sikh stories told by Guru Nanak, ending these by giving an account of what we think the guru intended people to think about and learn from the stories. We have also continued with our Gurdwara presentations.

We also had Spanish, music and PE sessions.

4th to 8th July

During another busy week at school, we have spent further time on our automata Design and Technology project. As well as progressing the practical work, we have thought about the planning process and learned how to plan our working - that is, planning and recording the plan for the sequence of work to produce a product (or part of a product) including noting the tools and materials that will be needed.

We have continued with our persuasive writing in English, identifying different arguments in persuasive letters we have read and writing our own piece about mobile phones. In maths, we have done further work on area, including calculating the areas of rectilinear shapes.

On Tuesday we visited our new classes and teachers (for the 2016/2017 school year) and, on Thursday, we had our school music concert.
