31st October to 4th November
In this first week of our new half term, we have started our history topic on the Saxons by learning about their way of like from text and artists' impressions focusing on Saxons villages and Saxon farming.
In English, we started a unit of work to help develop reading skills and followed up our work on writing good paragraphs by creating another non-fiction paragraph using Google Docs. Since Wednesday, we have moved on to do some poetry work, looking at some different forms of short poems, including Haiku and Limericks.
We have been continuing our learning about multiplication and division in maths. We thought about mental multiplication and division (combining our tables knowledge with our place value knowledge to find answers to sums like 600x9000 and 35000รท700) before moving on to practice formal written methods of multiplication and division (concentrating on division, which seemed by far the more difficult for us).
We had another session playing the tin whistle and, today, painted a background colour on the clay pot we made in readiness for decorating them. We also had two PE sessions, Spanish, handwriting and spelling (~tious and ~cious words).
