8th to 12th February
We have continued our English work based around The Highwayman, refining our "wanted" posters and, after a "hot-seating" activity, writing a monologue in the role of either the highwayman or Bess.
In maths, we have done some work on multiplication and division calculations. The main focus of this work was thinking about the meaning of answers so, for example, we needed to consider the context of a maths problem to determine whether an answer to a division sum need to be rounded up or rounded down to give a sensible answer.
A major piece of work this week was our art in which we created our final pieces in our Aboriginal stick-painting project. We created images depicting a traditional "Dreamtime" journey using traditional symbolism on coloured paper surrounding a shape representing the silhouette of a car, bus, ship or aeroplane. This was later decorated with self-designed symbols representing features that might be seen on a modern journey.
In addition, we had our last lesson in our RE topic about inspiring people, our weekly PE sessions and finished the half-term by playing a "Scrabble-type" word game.
