5th to 9th May
We have continued our unit of work on persuasive writing this week, writing arguments about children taking mobile phones to school. We have concentrated on the organisation of a persuasive text, with the main paragraphs following a helpful opening paragraph which guides the reader through the text. We also spent a lesson developing our comprehension skills. This week has been our "test week" in maths during which, after a "revision" lesson re-capping on some maths knowledge like the names of 2D and 3D shapes and the meaning of some maths vocabulary (multiple, factor, prime number, square number, etc.)
We have completed another unit in our geography topic about the Lake District. This was about forestry in which we learned how forestry in the area is affected by the climate and the landscape vice versa. We did some problem-solving activities (thinking about which varieties of trees could be planted in different places) and the views of different groups of people about aforestation.
In addition to our Tuesday Spanish and PE sessions, we also did some DT in preparation for next half-term's topic and some more of our work on the computer with Sketch-Up.
