28th April to 2nd May

We have continued our learning about persuasive writing by beginning to think about written arguments. We have also done some comprehension work this week, focussing on how authors express use language to express their point of view. In maths, we have been working on calculations, ensuring that we can do division reliably and compute multiplication sums involving decimal numbers. We also revised long multiplication methods.

We have spent some time on our history topic this week, learning about the role and place of slaves in ancient Greek society and then learning about the lives of children in ancient Athens. We compared the lives of boys and girls in Athens identifying the similarities and differences in the upbringing and then considering whether the boys or girls had the happier childhood. (We also thought about whether women were treated more like men or more like servants in that civilisation.)

We started a unit of work on the game of rounders in PE, practising and developing our throwing skills and today we continued our art topic, developing sets of designs for our pots based on those of Bodil Manz that we studied last week.
