12th to 16th May

In maths this week, we have worked on capacity (understanding units of capacity and converting between litres and millilitres) and then moved on to thinking about line graphs. We have tried to understand when line graphs may and should be used (instead of bar graphs) and learned how to draw them correctly. e have also spent time thinking about the interpretation of line graphs. This week has been our test week for English and we have had tests covering reading, writing and spelling.

We have completed another unit of our geography topic about the Lake District. This has focussed on farming in that area. We learned that the landscape and climate mean that hill farming largely based on sheep farming dominates the area and have found out about the different activities on a Lake District hill farm through the year. We have also thought about changes in farming that have come about because of financial pressures and how this has had an impact on the landscape of the area before planning and explaining our own ideas for farm diversification.

We finished the week with art, making our clay pots for our Bodil Manz project. We will paint and decorate these next week.
