20th to 24th January
Our maths work was a rather varied programme this week with our areas of study covering various aspects of data handling, problem solving and number work.
There were two strands in our English lessons this week. We have continued with writing explanations for part of the week and, in other lessons, we have continued writing our Mr. Men stories. We also did a reading test this week and some grammar work focusing on prepositions, thinking about both prepositions of place and prepositions of time.
Our learning in history has also involved explanation. We have been thinking about why some villages grew to become towns in Saxon times. This needed us to this about the links between places with good communications, the impact of merchant traders on the quality of the local market and why a good market would attract visitors and residents to a place in those days.
In science we thought about light travelling and properties of materials which relate to light (i.e. transparency), in PE we used the apparatus and investigated travelling in different ways and in art we completed our first chisel brush paintings before trying different brush strokes using these.
