15th to 19th July

We have been working to complete different areas of work before the end of term.

We have done some English work considering the adaptations that are made when books are transferred to film. We compared the opening of Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows with a film version, thinking about the differences in the way the story is communicated. We discussed the pace of the narrative, the lighting and the use of music and sound effects and the effect these have on the viewer. We also watched and read the episode in which Toad persuades Rat and Mole to go with him in the gypsy caravan and produced advertisements designed to sell the caravan, incorporating information from the text and film.

We have spent time on our automata. Many have finished making the product and are now working to complete the project folders, doing the presentation pictures and writing the evaluation.

On Thursday we did some cookery (baking) with Mrs. Jarvis and those of us who weren't involved in the Music Festival on Friday morning, wrote up the recipe for making these cakes.

On Friday, we finished the week by doing some painting, creating a countryside landscape with summer trees.
