25th January to 1st February
This week we completed our study and reflections about the poem The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. We did some creative writing based on the poem after "hot-seating" some of the main characters. We wrote monologues in role and also produced interviews with the main characters. On Friday, we wrote some poetry of our own. Our maths this week was about addition and subtraction calculations (mental and written) and then we worked on maths problems before learning about the use of brackets in equations.
We had another special science afternoon on Wednesday. We had a letter which said that Raleigh Clothing were planning to make a range of jackets for cyclists and they sent some different materials for us to test to see which one reflected light the best. We planned our experiments and, using electronic light meters, investigated how much light each reflected. We produced tables of results (having discussed the importance of repeating tests to help ensure reliability of results) and wrote up our experiments.
Other lessons this week included science about healthy living, Scratch programming in ICT and PE.
