11th to 15th February

We completed our mid-year tests in English and maths this week and had a special "history" afternoon in which we watched and discussed the Channel 4 television programme about the discovery of the skeleton of King Richard III. This was a fascinating and absorbing programme which connected well with our recent local history study about Nottingham Castle as King Richard spent close to half his short reign at Nottingham. The ruins of Richard's Tower can still be seen at the castle today.

In English this week, we have been doing further work based on The Odyssey. Our main focus has been on note making and writing summaries. We have done this for the stories of the Wooden Horse, the Ciccones and the Lotus Eaters. We practiced calculator work in maths before moving on to work on sequences.

In addition, we had our science and PE sessions. Friday was an INSET day for the teachers.

School has now broken up for our Spring half-term holidays.
