We have continued to make good progress with our weaving this week. In addition, in design technology, we have thought about the design of bodkins. First, we examined the bodkins that we have been using and considered their design in relation to their function. Then we recorded what we felt were the essential features of the design before drawing alternative designs of our own and developing one of these into a final design. Some of us also managed to make these up and test them.

Our maths work this week has focused on measurement again. We have learned about perimeters of regular shapes and even did a little algebra to create a simple formula to calculate these perimeters based on the length of one side. After moving on to work on the perimeter of rectangles, we had three lessons on time, including the 24 hour clock and converting between the 12 and the 24 hour clock.

In RE, we learned about the story which lies behind the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah and then we examined the symbolism represented in the design of a range of traditional and modern menorahs before designing some of our own.

 In addition to practicing for our Christmas production, we researched (using video and text) and then wrote another explanation text - this time about the formation of oxbow lakes - and also had our usual sessions of Spanish and PE.
