19th to 23rd November

We did our story-writing assessment early this week, after a revision session about punctuation on Monday. Then, on Wednesday, we began a new unit of work thinking about explanation texts. We have looked at an analysed an explanation text about submarines and annotated the script, making notes about the organisation of the text and the language features.

Our main work in maths was about multiplication this week. This included multiplying decimal numbers and beginning to learn the processes involved in computing long multiplication calculations. We also did some place value activities and ended the week with some maths problem solving work.

In RE this week we looked at religious imagery in a variety of different artists representations of the annunciation. We studied and discussed the pictures - what we could see, what we thought the artist wanted us to think and feel, how the pictures were made, etc. and then recorded our thoughts and explained which one was our favourite.

In addition, we began our weaving, did some practical science work investigating opaque, translucent and transparent materials and objects, had our Spanish lesson, PE sessions and practised our Christmas songs.
