28th May to 1st June
It has been Jubilee Week at school.
As well as a doing a little maths (mainly multiplication and more division) and English (finishing Granadpa Chatterji and beginning to think about characterisation) we have had spent most of our time on activities connected to the Queen's Jubilee. These have helped us think about the history of the monarchy, the role and responsibilities of the Queen and about celebrations.
In our Jubilee Concert on Thursday, we sang songs from the different decades of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. We also heard and watched presentations made by each year group featuring headlines from every decade - including information about royal events, Prime Ministers, news headlines, developments in technology, fashion, and popular music and films of the day.
Today we had a Jubilee Day. All the children went around to different classrooms for four different activities during the day. These included designing and making tasks such as making a new royal standard or logo and a crown, learning about developments in communications technologies since 1952, investigating the tune of the National Anthem and learning and trying out playground and street games of the 1950s.
We are currently on our school half-term holidays.
