27th June to 1st July

We have made good progress with our art and technology work this week. We have almost finished our decorated pots. We created a final design on a piece of paper the height of our pots (meaning that this could be curved around to represent the side of the pot). We applied this design to our clay pots using felt pens. In technology we drilled our cams and made the axles, cranks and crank handles.

We have also taken our music videos a step further. Having filmed some video clips to match some of the lyrics, we added these to our existing films, cropping them appropriately to make them match the timing of the lyrics.

In maths this week our work has moved from activities helping us to visualise 3D shapes which can be made from nets to lessons about fractions while, in English, we have continued our thinking about stories from other cultures. We have studied the development of the character of Grandpa Leicester in the Grandpa Chatterji novel, reflecting on how the author makes him seem an unpleasant character initially and then shows the reader how he is has changed (or at least, is much more complex than he appears initially).
