11th to 15th and 18th to 21st July

In class we have been finishing off the topics and projects that we have been working on this half-term.

Having completed our automata and written evaluations of these, we filmed them (the whole thing, the moving characters and the mechanism) and used these, together with still images, to produce either a digital video (using Windows MovieMaker) or a PowerPoint presentation. This was one of the major pieces of work for the last two weeks of term.

Another major piece of work as we approached the end of the school year was based on The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Everyone knew the story well as this had been the Year 3 & 4 production last year. Our work helped us think about the differences between the way the story is told on paper by the author and on film by a director. We read some of the story and compared it with the film, noticing differences in the sequence of the story, what the film missed out and how the director used a range of different techniques to convey the story and the mood.

We continued with our maths, French, ICT, RE, PE and other work and also completed our RoA sheets for the year, which helped us to reflect on our achievements. The final week also saw our school music concert which many of the class were involved in.
