7th to 11th February

We have had our mid-year English and maths tests this week. This has involved reading, writing and spelling tests in English and two written tests (one with access to a calculator and one without) and a mental test in maths.

On Monday we learned some more video editing techniques, introducing transitions into our films, in ICT and, in English, experimented with writing from the point of view of a character in a story (ours was an ancient Greek hero facing a monster). We also did music.

Our maths lessons this week focused on mental maths work (including doubling and halving numbers with decimals) and investigating calculator methods and techniques. In history we learned about the lives of citizens living in the ancient Greek polis of Athens. We found out about the different sorts of jobs they did, including those who worked in clay, and thought about the importance to historians of the vase paintings created by the artists of the day.

Also this week, we watched some more episodes of our "Odyssey" video, had PE, science and art.
