We did some more thinking about our Mr. Men stories early in the week and then turned our attention back to poetry. We have looked at and written three types of "pattern" poems where we have had to stick to a clear structure. These are: noun-verb-adverb poems, modern cinquains and "diamond" poems. Having the discipline of a structure like this has meant that we have had to think very carefully about the vocabulary that we are using and the best place in the poem to include a particular idea.

The main work in maths has been to develop our understanding of fractions and decimals. We have worked on equivalent fractions and found fractions of quantities. We have also related fractions to their equivalent decimal numbers.

We have also made good progress with our RE work and our technology project. In RE we finished looking at the Christian Aid website and then moved on to a consideration of the site posted by Islamic Relief. We then discussed the aims of the charities, who they help, where they work and the sorts of things they do. We found that they were similar in many ways. In technology we have finished making up our weaving frames. This has involved finishing sawing the wood, then marking and sawing the little "notches" to help stop the warp threads moving as we weave and, finally, gluing with frame together using the card triangles we had prepared.
