22nd to 26th November

We have continued writing episodes for our Mr Men stories this week, building up our characters by showing their actions and reactions to events. Some of us have begun writing the climax for our stories now. In maths, our main work has involved solving maths problems. After doing some work on division calculations, we looked at one-step and two-step maths problems, including some involving lengths and money. We have also been thinking about how to tackle the problems - that is, how to decide when to use a mental method, a written method or to use a calculator.

In our work on ancient Greece, we have been learning about the Polis this week. We have described what a polis was like and written an explanation about how the ancient Greek agora is like the market we have in the Victoria Centre in Nottingham.

In ICT we have spent some more time learning how to use different features of a spreadsheet program. (We are using MS Excel.) As part of our work we have used the graph and chart wizard to produce and compare different types of graphs.

We have also had our French and PE sessions and, in music, practised the songs for our Christmas production.
