The highlight of our week this week was a visit to the Magna science adventure centre near Rotherham on Wednesday. The whole school went on the visit and the range of exhibits (as well as the excellent adventure playground) was very much enjoyed. The best zone for us was the Water zone as the activities fitted in well with our current topic on rivers and water. Rivers, and the different stages in the "life" of a river, have been the focus of our geography and English work this week as we have researched information and then written non-fiction paragraphs about the upper course, the middle course and the lower course of rivers.

In maths, our main work has been concerned with addition and subtraction calculations, including calculations involving decimal numbers and money. Today we moved on to thinking about multiples and factors of numbers.

Today we also finished off our piece of artwork combining sketching techniques with a water colour wash.

Earlier in the week (on Monday) we had an extra science lesson. We went outside in the sunshine and painted pictures with water on the playground and playground walls. They didn't last long - the pictures soon disappeared - and we used this to start our thinking about evaporation and the water cycle. One of our PE lessons was also related to our "Water and Rivers" work: we have been creating sequences of gymnastics and  dance movements to represent the youthful stage of a river.
