25th to 29th January
Our English unit of work about myths and legends began this week. It links nicely with the history topic on ancient Greece that we will be studying later in the term. To start us off, we have been reading some myths and legends and have watched three short video programmes relating stories from Greek mythology. (These have been about Odysseus.) We have used these experiences to begin to identify some of the features and recurring themes of such stories and have written some descriptions of monsters.
In maths, our data handling work moved on to learning about line graphs - how to draw them and use them to answer questions. Following this, we have had two lessons working on probability - the language of probability in particular.
We had a broad scope to our history this week, in which we used a sequencing task to encourage close reading so that we learned about the developments in and around Nottingham in the three hundred years leading up to the Norman invasion.
We created a spreadsheet in ICT to calculate water usage in a family home across a typical week, had music, science and two PE sessions and we finished the week with some more painting.
Our class had a 100% attendance this week.
