21st and 22nd September
We have begun a new section of work in our topic on Rivers and Water. This concerns the water supply industry and how the water authorities obtain and clean the water that they then pipe into our homes. We have looked at a magazine ( called The Watermen) published a few years ago by the Severn Trent Water Authority and used this to help us find out about the way the company works.
In maths we have thought about multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1000 and tried to understand the idea of place value underlying this so that we can explain (for example) what happens when a number is multiplied by 100. We also just touched on multiplying and dividing decimal numbers by 10 and 100.
This afternoon we did some map work on rivers and had PE (some gymnastics) and we have also done a little handwriting and punctuation work (thinking about the punctuation of speech).
