3rd to 5th September
We have had a good first few days of our new school year.
In English, we began by studying aspects of the Bernard Ashley story, Dinner Ladies Don't Count - thinking about how the author suggests the characters' moods by their actions. We did some handwriting, spelling and story-writing work based on this. Today we did some comprehension work based on a passage from The Shrinking of Treehorn.
We have spent most of our maths time on revising our basic computation work - checking that we are doing our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division sums correctly after the holiday!
We have also been working on a cross-curricular topic involving lots of PSHCE, science and geography work. The idea behind this is that we have been shipwrecked on a desert island and have to find ways to survive. We have discussed basic human needs and had a series of thinking skills tasks including considering:
