29th and 30th September
We have had a short break from our story writing unit in English and did a comprehension exercise yesterday (on a passage from The Demon Headmaster) and today we did some thinking about figurative language. We talked about similes and metaphors before writing some extended similes. We finished off by writing a poem about a friend in which we tried to make each line a good extended metaphor.
Our maths this week is about shape - 2d shapes. We are been grouping shapes according to their properties, thinking about the properties of different quadrilaterals (e.g. how many sides, opposite sides, parallel/perpendicular sides, symmetry, etc.) and trying to guess the shape someone is thinking about by asking questions based on properties of different shapes.
We have started writing a class blog in ICT. Our first task is to say what our favourite book is and a number of people have written comments on these from their computers at home. And, in addition to having French, PSHCE and PE today, we have also had a science lesson in which we collected data and produced a graph to show how much an elastic band stretched when we added hanging weights to it.
