On Thursday, we continued thinking about decimal numbers in maths, working on place value and doing a few calculations. In English we looked at how the author of Mac's Short Adventure developed the "wet day" setting throughout the story, identifying key descriptive phrases before writing some phrases of our own that could be used to depict a very cold day. In the afternoon we went swimming, having the first of the three sessions that we will have this year.

Today we began our programme of special Friday English and maths sessions when Year 6 have some extra support so that we can focus on targeting smaller groups with work specifically related to individual needs. In our English session we concentrated on developing the accuracy of our sentence writing (including thinking about our proof-reading skills) while in maths we tackled some harder work on decimals including complements to one and to ten.

This afternoon we had our weekly spelling and tables tests, sorted out the homework for this week and then did some art. This involved some sketching activities leading to producing a still-life drawing of an apple using pencil and then using pencil crayon.
