5th to 7th March

In maths this week we have revised work on angles, including measuring and estimating angles and calculating angles on a straight line, in a triangle and around a point. Now we have turned our thoughts to calculating areas and perimeters of compound shapes.

In English, we are getting further into the idea of "suspense" stories. We have read a stories and begun to analyse this, considering how the author has created the suspense and the questions that the author has raised and left unanswered to draw the reader in. We have also been doing some writing - concentrating on description of the setting and characters in ways which do not interfere with the flow of the story.

Our science time has been split, with part of the time being spent on going through some of the questions in the test we did last week and covering some new ideas. We completed our activities on food chains and have also done some work on classification in the animal kingdom, especially the five main vertebrate groups.
