7th and 8th November
In maths we have been thinking about converting between units of measurement (e.g. kilometres to metres, kilograms to grams, millimetres to centimetres and vice versa) and some of us have used graphs to convert metric units to imperial units (e.g. kilometres to miles).
We have been continuing our work on fiction - concentrating this week on planning stories. We have looked at some short stories and created story plans from them, trying to identify the way the author began the story, the main features of the characters and settings that were introduced and developed, the main problem or dilemma in the story and how this was resolved. Today we also tried planning a story of our own using the same story structure.
We have continued our history work, moving on to thinking about how home life was affected by the war. We used a website to study a war-time house and identified the changes that had been made because the war had begun. We have also had our weekly YMCA PE lesson, French and handwriting sessions.
