22nd and 23rd November
We have concentrated on written methods of addition and (particularly) subtraction in maths over the last two lessons and, to help us remember the processes, we have taken it in turns to "be the teacher" and explain the steps to our group.
Concentrating on autobiography in English, we have read work by Laurie Lee, thought in more detail about aspects of Roald Dahl's Boy and begun a text analysis of an extract of Raymond Briggs' autobiography. We have highlighted typical language features of autobiographies including writing in the first person and the past tense, time connectives, etc.
We had our PE session with the YMCA, French and handwriting, on Tuesday afternoon and today, we did some science and history.
In science we wrote about different sources of light and began to revise how shadows are formed. Our history lesson focused on why the Second World War began. We watched a helpful video which referred back to the aftermath of World War I, the rise of fascism in Germany and the expansionist tendencies of Hitler's regime and used this information to complete a worksheet.
