17th and 18th January

In English we have started a new unit of work in which we are thinking about narrative poetry. We looked at Miller's End by Charles Causley on Monday, thinking about the story told in the poem and the organisation and rhyming pattern that Causley used. Today we started a study of Alfred Noyes' poem The Highwayman. We looked at the beginning of the poem today and did some dictionary work to help us make sure that we understood the somewhat difficult vocabulary.

Our maths work this week continues our thinking about ways of doing mental multiplication and division sums and the strategies we can use to help us. These include using doubling and halving, using factors and multiplying/dividing by 10, 100, 1000, etc.

We had our DARE lesson on Monday morning and PE with the YMCA, Spanish and handwriting today.
