12th January

In English we looked at some rules of standard English. We started by looking at some spoken dialogue which had been written down and spotted some things which were "not correct". We made appropriate corrections, revised some "parts of speech" then did some work on correcting verbs to make sure that they matched the nouns and tense.

We tried some one-step and two-step problems in maths and, for the two step problems, used brackets in maths expressions to show which parts of the calculation should be completed first. After that we looked at some expressions and tried to write problems to match the expressions.

We spent the afternoon on our geography topic. We are thinking about tourism at the moment: how the landscape affects the sorts of activities tourists do in the Lake District and how tourists affect the landscape. Today we were thinking about the problems that large numbers of tourists can cause in an area and possible solutions to some of these problems.
